Gossip Girl Surprise

This situation is tough to explain, but to start off my explanation, my friends are amazing.  I've been having a rough time lately, I've been stressed about my senior year and college and my blog, everything piles up which means lots of pressure for me, although I love my blog and all of you!

My friends saw my stress and wanted to do something sweet for me, they decided to leave this sweet anonymous note on my porch and surprise me with lunch and a day away from everything.

I followed the directions, curled my hair, put on my pearls and wore my favorite Lilly dress, and I was taken to a pizza place called Mellow Mushroom Pizza (Amazing!). Following that they took me to a couple consignment shops because there is nothing some retail therapy can't fix!

I didn't purchase much, three shirts, all from J. Crew, and I only spent $25! It was an amazing day with amazing people and it was much needed!

Birthday

For those of you who don't know, my birthday was this past Friday, June 19th! I celebrated by coming home early Friday morning from a church camp where I spent the week with some close friends, learning about God, playing paintball and all kinds of fun things. I woke up early Friday, packed up my things and made my way home to open a few gifts from my family.

* First present I opened was from my sister Oakleigh, she gave me a Longchamp inspired bag that was tan with dark brown details, with a white monogram on the front, (from @bwhimsygifts ).

*My mom also got me some monogrammed items from @bwhimsygifts , she bought me this mint Charles River Apparel rain jacket with a gray monogram, and she also bought me a monogrammed ring. (pictured below)

*My dad and my sister pitched in to get me the Lilly Pulitzer dress I've been wanting, the 'Shell me about it' Gabby shift dress, which they bought from Pink Palm Richmond.

*Friday night I had a bunch of my friends come over for a bonfire so props to all of them! I received $60 to Starbucks because I am completely obsessed with Coffee! I received giftcards to Chick Fil A, Panera and couple Visas!

*I got a bunch of random candies, lotions and spa products, etc.

*I received a cute tank from my friend that says "more shopping, more coffee, more parties" and she also gave me one of those pink donut floats for a pool and I'm extremely excited to use that this summer, and on top of that it is adorable to photograph!(below)

*My favorite color is lavender so one of my friends got me a lavender themed present! It came with Essie nail polish in lavender, a lavender scarf with grapefruit slices all over it from target, and some lavender pajama shorts with little lobsters on them from American Eagle.

*I also received 3 other colors of Essie nail polish, (nude, light blue, and mint)

*Other cosmetic products I received include eos lip balm, some facial masks, bubble bath, and lotion from Bath and Bodyworks.

These were the presents I received the day of my birthday, I am so grateful, my next post will include the haul with my birthday money. Keep your eyes peeled for some of the items mentioned, they might be featured on my Instagram!

National Wear Your Lilly Day

June 21st marks the first day of summer which means its also National Wear Your Lilly Day! I was super excited to go to the Lilly store with my sisters. My sister Elle sported a Lilly for Target Romper, I wore a Let's Cha Cha Maxi, and my sister Oakleigh wore her new Blue Heaven Shift!
We made our way to Pink Palm Richmond so I could pick out my dress for
my birthday this past Friday, June 19th! I ended up getting the "Shell me about it" Gabby shift dress. I also purchased my agenda for this coming school year in "Pink Lemonade", and because it was National Wear Your Lilly Day, I got a free Coozie in "Big Flirt", and a little note card set!

Prep for Less

My preppy tips for being on a budget:
              - When i think of preppy style, there are a few different shoes I think of, but the main one is Jack Rogers, if you're mostly about the name, purchse the Jellies, they're only $50, have the name, but have a fairly different look. If you're all about the look of them, i suggest hot cakes, or Y nots, Y nots can be found at shoe carnival and are only $40 dollars but are often on sale.
             - A Preppy girl wears Lilly Pulitzer, I love this brand so much, however it is pricey and you dont get as much for your money. I've only bought one Lilly Pulitzer thing for full price, all my other stuff Ive gotten on their huge sales, on sale at Ocean Palm, and I've surprisingly found some stuff at Marshalls and Tj maxx. I didn't find clothes at the discount stores, but I've found cups and a pitcher and a tumbler and stuff like that.  There is an annual end of summer sale that everything is marked down in, theres warehouse sales (these are INSANE!), and theres also consignment shops. If none of these work for you, or you dont have time to perge the racks, theres an app called 'Poshmark' , it allows you to enter your size and what you're looking for, and will come up with a bunch of new and used items for sale.
-For a more J Crew look, I suggest shopping sale and sale only, the J Crew Factory store has less expensive things, and also, there is usually a 40% off of stuff on sale already at most J crew stores. I usually try to use that so I can get more for less money. I am also a huge Old Navy and Target Junkie, they have similar looks for way less, they have bright colors and more basic things and if you know fashion, you'll be able to make great pairings out of simple finds at these stores!
